Knoxville, TN (WOKI / WVLT) – The Tennessee Valley Authority is seeking public feedback as it updates its long-range energy strategy.
TVA’s Integrated Resource Plan, or IRP, outlines how the utility will meet energy demand over the next 20 years while continuing to serve more than 10 million people across the region.
According to TVA, energy demand across the Valley is on the rise after a decade of relatively flat growth. Officials say the increase is being driven by population and job growth, expanded industrial activity — including the rise of data centers — and broader electrification trends.
TVA uses the IRP to guide major decisions about power generation, infrastructure and resource planning.
Public comments on the plan will be accepted through July 22. TVA’s final recommendations, along with an Environmental Impact Statement, are expected to be presented to the TVA Board for consideration in August.
