FARRAGUT, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) – A gas line leak forced the temporary closure of a roadway in Farragut Monday morning.
According to town officials, South Monticello Drive was shut down between Clover Fork Drive and Briar Creek Drive for several hours while crews responded to the issue. The road reopened around 11:45 a.m. after repairs were completed.
Rural Metro Fire and the Knoxville Utilities Board were called to the scene to handle the response and ensure the area was safe.
While the gas line issue has been resolved, town leaders say drivers should prepare for another closure. South Monticello Drive will be shut down again starting Tuesday, this time for approximately five weeks.
Officials say the upcoming closure is part of a planned stormwater infrastructure upgrade in the area.
Drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes and expect delays during the construction period.
