ALCOA, Tenn. (WOKI /WVLT) — A popular West Coast burger chain may be eyeing its first location in East Tennessee.
The Alcoa Municipal Regional Planning Commission briefly discussed a proposal Thursday involving In-N-Out Burger, signaling early plans that could bring the restaurant to Blount County.
The request, submitted by a representative for the California-based company, involves replatting property along Tesla Boulevard. While details of the potential development remain limited, the item was not acted on during the meeting. The applicant and developer opted to defer discussion until next month, leaving the proposal in its early stages.
Even so, the filing is the first documented indication that In-N-Out is considering expansion into East Tennessee. The company has recently increased its presence in Tennessee, relocating a significant portion of its corporate operations to the Nashville area.
If approved, the Alcoa location would mark a major step in the chain’s gradual move eastward, something that has drawn significant interest from fans across the region.
For now, no official timeline or construction plans have been announced. The proposal is expected to return to the planning commission for further consideration at its next meeting.
