Campbell County, TN (WOKI /WVLT) – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has closed part of a road in the North Cumberland Wildlife Management Area following recent heavy rains.
Officials say significant erosion caused a hazardous washout on Montgomery Fork Road, making the roadway unsafe for public use.
TWRA staff determined the closure was necessary, noting the area is typically open for both daytime and nighttime travel. The damage is believed to be the result of several rounds of heavy rainfall that worsened existing erosion problems.
Area Manager Keith Thomas says while the closure may be an inconvenience for visitors, safety remains the top priority.
TWRA says updates will be provided as repair plans move forward and crews work toward reopening the roadway.
