Anderson County, TN (WOKI / WVLT) – The Tennessee Highway Patrol has identified the woman killed in a crash last month in Anderson County.
According to a preliminary report, 28-year-old Maya Leon was driving a Toyota Highlander westbound on Andersonville Highway just before 7 a.m. on May 22nd when the vehicle left the roadway.
Troopers say the SUV struck and went through a metal fence before overturning at least once. The vehicle eventually came to rest in the front yard of a nearby home.
Investigators say Leon was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle. She died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
