Trump: ‘Good Chance of Winning New York’

Former President Donald Trump, speaking to construction workers in midtown Manhattan early Monday on his way to his trial proceedings, said he will “make a play for New York” and possibly defeat President Joe Biden there in this year’s presidential election.

“Biden is the worst president in history, and we have some very bad people here, but we have the greatest people, and they’re right behind me, and they all want us to run, and we’re going to run very hard in New York,” Trump said, reported The Guardian. “We have a good chance of winning New York, in my opinion. We’re going to give it a shot.”

No Republican presidential candidate has won in New York state since Ronald Reagan in 1984. Biden defeated Trump by more than 20 percentage points in New York in 2020.
