One person is dead after a crash involving a motorcycle in East Knoxville Thursday morning.

Knoxville Police Department says they responded to the intersection of Asheville Highway and Ruggles Ferry Pike. The motorcyclist was dead when officers arrived.

Investigators believe the motorcyclist was traveling west on Asheville Highway when a Honda SUV attempted to turn left onto Ruggles Ferry, when the motorcycle then struck the side of the Honda.

No other injuries were reported. The crash remains under investigation.MORE

Knox County Sheriff’s Office says in May of 2021 an officer was on the 1-40 ramp on Campbell Station Road when he saw Devin Williams passed out in the driver’s seat of his car at a traffic light.

Officers say Williams woke up after several attempts to wake him up.

When Williams stepped out of the car, an empty beer can fell out. He was unsteady on his feet and failed field sobriety tests.

Williams is convicted of a DUI first offense. His case for sentencing is set for May 18. MORE

Deputies say they went to perform a welfare check at a home in Powell where found two people, identified as Cathy Palmer and Sammie Palmer, dead from what appeared to be a murder-suicide.

Both people were transported to the Knox County Regional Forensics Center for autopsies.MORE
