Metro Nashville Police have announced the arrest of a suspect in the shooting of a Nashville nurse.

21-year-old Devaunte L. Hill was taken into custody by a SWAT team this morning from his East Nashville apartment for the shooting of nurse, Caitlyn Kaufman on December 3. Reports show Hill and Kaufman did not know each other.

Speaking early today, Metro Nashville Police Chief John Drake talked about the process of capturing Hill.

“A concerned citizen came forward Thursday afternoon and identified Hill as a suspect,” explained Drake. “The concerned citizen also provided information about the whereabouts of the 9 millimeter used in the murder. Our detectives located the gun Thursday night. We called in our ballistics experts overnight to do an immediate analysis.”

Drake added that Hill “gave a statement implicating himself in Caitlyn’s murder.” Drake could not provide any more information at this time.
