KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI) — Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital will celebrate the opening of its newest pediatric primary care location Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Knoxville.
The event is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Main Campus Pediatrics, located at 611 22nd Street in Knoxville.
Hospital leaders say the new clinic will expand access to pediatric primary care services while also playing a key role in training future physicians.
According to hospital officials, Main Campus Pediatrics will become the premier training site for pediatric residents enrolled in the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine – Knoxville pediatric residency program beginning in July 2027.
The clinic will serve as a central component of the residency program, providing hands-on experience for physicians in training as they care for children and families. Hospital officials say the setting will help residents develop clinical decision-making skills while emphasizing comprehensive, family-centered care.
The opening represents another step in the continued growth of pediatric healthcare services associated with Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital, which serves families across East Tennessee and the surrounding region.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will feature remarks from hospital representatives and community leaders. Members of the media will have opportunities to conduct interviews with hospital leadership following the event.
Officials said photographs from the ceremony will be made available after the event for media outlets unable to attend.
The new clinic is expected to provide both immediate benefits for local families seeking pediatric care and long-term benefits through the education and training of future pediatricians serving East Tennessee communities.
