OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (WOKI) — Two people suffered serious injuries Monday night following a motorcycle crash that shut down a major Oak Ridge intersection and prompted an ongoing investigation by local authorities.
According to the Oak Ridge Police Department, officers responded at approximately 8:40 p.m. on Sept. 14 to a crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle at the intersection of Tennessee Avenue and Central Avenue.
Preliminary information indicates the motorcycle crashed into the rear of a vehicle.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and found two individuals with serious injuries. Both victims were transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville for treatment.
Authorities have not released the identities of those involved or provided details regarding the extent of their injuries.
The crash blocked the intersection Monday night as emergency personnel worked the scene and investigators began gathering evidence.
The Oak Ridge Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team has taken over the investigation. Officials said the cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is being released at this time.
