SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT)— The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents to be on the lookout for an absconded inmate who fled from a litter crew Tuesday morning in the Newport Highway area.
Authorities identified the inmate as Justin Dewayne Vaughn, 37. Deputies say Vaughn was last seen on foot near New Center Market shortly before 8 a.m.
Vaughn is described as a white male standing 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build, brown hair, green eyes, and a light beard. He also has tribal tattoos on both lower arms. At the time he ran, Vaughn was reportedly wearing a white T-shirt and bright orange pants.
The sheriff’s office is urging the public not to approach Vaughn if he is spotted. Instead, residents should immediately call 911 or contact local law enforcement.
