KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) — The Knoxville Police Department has released its traffic enforcement statistics from the Fourth of July holiday weekend, reporting one DUI arrest, 120 citations and 25 crash investigations.
The enforcement period covered 4 p.m. Friday, July 3, through 11:59 p.m. Saturday, July 4, when officers increased traffic patrol efforts during one of the busiest travel weekends of the summer.
According to KPD, officers investigated 25 traffic crashes during the reporting period. Ten of those crashes resulted in at least one reported injury.
Police also issued 120 citations, with eight citations written for speeding violations.
One of the more notable figures in the report was the low number of impaired-driving arrests. KPD reported making just one DUI arrest during the holiday enforcement period.
In addition to citations and crash investigations, officers issued 81 warning citations and provided assistance to 22 stranded or disabled motorists across the city.

KPD officials have not released details about any specific crashes investigated during the holiday period, but the department said officers remained active throughout the weekend responding to traffic incidents and assisting motorists.
The department continues to encourage drivers to obey speed limits, avoid impaired driving and remain attentive behind the wheel as summer travel season continues.
