Cocke County, TN (WOKI) — A bomb threat led to the evacuation of a Cocke County neighborhood Monday evening, according to the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a possible explosive threat at the Greystone Way housing park. As a precaution, authorities ordered all residents to leave their homes while crews worked to secure the area.
Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted in the response, including the Gatlinburg Police Department, Pigeon Forge Police Department, Hamblen County Sheriff’s Office, and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. Specialized K-9 explosive detection teams were also brought in to search for any suspicious devices.
Officials say K-9 units conducted a thorough sweep of the entire neighborhood. No explosive devices were located, and the scene was eventually deemed safe. Residents were then allowed to return to their homes.
The sheriff’s office says the investigation into the threat remains ongoing, and authorities are working to identify the individual responsible for the call.
In a statement, officials thanked residents for their cooperation and patience during the evacuation and praised the quick response from assisting agencies and personnel who helped manage the situation.
