Trump Administration Nominates Four Appointees for TVA Board of Directors

Washington, D.C. (WOKI) The Trump administration Tuesday nominated four people to serve on the Tennessee Valley Authority’s board of directors.

The move comes after the White House pulled three members from the board, putting some of the board’s plans on hold.

Lee Beaman, Mitch Graves, Jeff Hagood, and Randall Jones will join chairman Bill Renick, Bobby Klein and Wade White:

  • Lee Beaman, whose term is set to expire May 18, 2030
  • Mitch Graves, who will serve until May 18, 2029
  • Jeff Hagood, whose term runs through May 18, 2029
  • Randall Jones, with a term set to expire on May 28, 2028

The TVA’s board has been without a quorum since President Donald Trump fired Joe H. Ritch in April. Ritch’s departure was preceded by Michelle Moore’s firing.

According to the TVA Bylaws, the board can continue operations that were established while TVA had a quorum, but it does not have the “authority to direct [TVA] into new areas of activity, to embark on new programs, or to change the Corporation’s existing direction.”

Governor Bill Lee took to “X” (formerly Twitter) Tuesday praising the nominations saying “these appointees will bring the strong leadership needed to aggressively pursue American energy dominance — with safe, reliable nuclear energy at the forefront.”

Lee has become a strong proponent of nuclear energy in Tennessee.
