It’s been over a year since police started investigating a grade-changing scandal at Clinton High School and a second person is now facing charges.
Last May, two teachers were fired after being accused of changing nearly 1,500 grades.
Since then, Clinton High’s principal, several guidance counselors and the school’s football coach and athletic director have left the school system. Some of those people resigned and others were let go, either by dismissal or not having contracts renewed.
Yesterday (Tuesday), one of the counselors who resigned, Carrie Jenkins, was arrested and charged with two counts of destruction or tampering with government records, charges that stem from the grade changing scandal.
Mrs. Jenkins is an upstanding and dedicated community member of Clinton. She has lived here her entire life and has invested more than 20 years in the school system. She is a loving mother, supportive wife and friend and proud to call Clinton her home. We absolutely refute the alleged charges against Mrs. Jenkins and look forward to clearing her name. We welcome transparency through this process as more details emerge.

Former teacher Clay Turpin was also charged in connection to the scandal. He’s facing 24 charges.
