Knoxville Police Investigating Animal Cruelty Case after Officers Find Dog Dead

Knoxville, TN (WOKI) The Knoxville Police Department and Young-Williams Animal Center are asking for help as they investigate a possible animal cruelty case.

KPD officials say officers responded around 7:00 a.m. Monday to the parking lot of 809 E. Emerald Avenue finding two terrier mixes that had been abandoned.

“One of the dogs was found deceased with a bag tied over its head,” KPD Communications Manager Scott Erland said. “The other dog was alive and did not have any visible injuries, though a second bag like the one found tied over the head of the deceased dog was found on the property.”

Officers canvassed the area, Erland said, but were unable to locate anyone who recognized the dogs or had knowledge concerning the dogs’ owner, Those with information are being asked to call East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers anonymously at 865-215-7165.
