Knox County Election Commission to Hold Public Voting Machine Test Ahead of August Election Story: KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Knox County Election Commission is inviting the public to observe a key step in preparing for the August 6, 2026 election. Officials will conduct a public voting machine test on Wednesday, July 8 at 8:30 a.m. at the Downtown West Early Voting and Training Center, located at 1645 Downtown West Boulevard. The test is required and designed to ensure all voting equipment is properly prepared, fully functional and accurately programmed before Election Day. During the demonstration, election officials will randomly select a precinct from the list of those participating in the upcoming election. Voting machines assigned to that precinct will be set up just as they would be at a polling place. A mock election will then be conducted to verify that votes are recorded and tabulated correctly, giving the public a transparent look at how election systems are tested for accuracy and security. Officials say the process helps build confidence in the election system by showing that safeguards are in place and equipment is working as intended. The test is expected to last between 90 minutes and two hours. Members of the public, candidates and the media are all encouraged to attend. Additional information about the August election is available at KnoxVotes.org or by contacting the Knox County Election Commission directly.
