Trump Fires Back at Trudeau, Vowing Added ‘Reciprocal Tariff’

President Donald Trump wasted no time responding to outgoing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s vow to apply retaliatory tariffs on the U.S.

“Please explain to Governor Trudeau, of Canada, that when he puts on a Retaliatory Tariff on the U.S., our Reciprocal Tariff will immediately increase by a like amount!” Trump replied quickly Tuesday on Truth Social.

Notably, Trump called Trudeau a governor instead of a prime minister of his country after months of talk about luring Canada in as a 51st state. U.S. states are led by governors.
