Rep. Jason Smith to Newsmax: Tariffs Show Trump’s Strength

President Donald Trump’s call for tariffs worked to get Mexico and Canada to implement border plans, but such talk was never heard from the Biden administration because it was “very weak,” House Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith said Wednesday on Newsmax.

“Donald Trump is not weak,” the Missouri Republican said on “Wake Up America.” “We saw that from the day that he had the attempted assassination on his life. He jumped up and he showed the power of strength with his fist in the air. That’s exactly how he’s leading as the president of the United States and he’ll continue to lead with that.”

Smith added that Trump’s call for tariffs is more than a threat, but a “reality.”
