Rep. Buddy Carter, R-Ga., told Newsmax on Wednesday that President Donald Trump “knows exactly what he’s doing” in angling for the acquisition of Greenland and the purchase of the autonomous Danish territory would be a “great win” for the United States.
“It is important to international security,” Carter said on “Wake Up America.” “I mean, strategically, the location of Greenland is extremely important. It’s a national security priority for us, not to mention the rare Earth minerals that this land has, and that would help propel us to energy dominance here in America. So, it’s a great win for us. Everybody talks about the fact that, well, it’s not for sale. Well, I can tell you, I was in business for 32 years and something’s not for sale until it is for sale. So, there’s a price for everything.”
Carter has introduced a bill in the House that would empower Trump to enter into discussions with the Kingdom of Denmark to “purchase or otherwise acquire” Greenland, and rename it “Red White and Blueland” as a way of denoting its link to the U.S.
