BREAKING: A fire has broken out at Fort Sanders.

Knoxville fire is on the scene of a house fire in Fort Sanders area.

Witnesses told WVLT News the structure looked to be a fully engulfed home.

Officials with the fire department said all operations are currently in defensive mode and no firefighters are entering the structure due to the heavy fire load.

Chief Mark Wilbanks said they do not have the fire out, but they have confirmed no one was inside the building during their initial searches.

Melissa Cox and her family lost their home and nearly everything in it due to a house fire in January and she can relate to the people going through the Hurricane.

Cox said if she has anything extra to give or if there is something she can do for others then she is absolutely going to do it.

A man is arrested after causing a disturbance at Zoo Knoxville

A man is arrested after causing a disturbance at Zoo Knoxville.

WVLT reporting that 55 year-old Marcus Winston reportedly entered the zoo last (Tuesday) night which was after-hours but during a private event. Employees reportedly told responders that Winston seemed upset and was yelling while inside the zoo, refusing to leave.

When officers arrived, they found Winston, who was allegedly yelling at a food truck, asking him to leave. Winston refused to leave and resisted being put in handcuffs, so officers used pepper spray on him and “delivered one knee strike to the midsection.”

Once Winston was taken into custody, officers allegedly found suspected crack cocaine and a pipe.

Winston was charged with possession, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Police Arrest a man on Multiple Felony Weapon and Drug Charges

Knoxville Police arrest a man on multiple felony weapon and drug charges as part of a drug distribution investigation that was led by the Department’s Organized Crime Unit and DEA Task Force officers.

49-year-old David Jordan was arrested yesterday (Tuesday) after he was identified as a source of supply in the Western Avenue area.

Officers became aware that Jordan was transporting a large amount of methamphetamine and conducted a traffic stop on Western Avenue.

Officers searched his truck after a K-9 detected the smell of narcotics and located approximately eight ounces of suspected meth during the search. They also found two loaded handguns, approximately two pounds of suspected meth, around two ounces of suspected heroin and a fully operational marijuana grow operation when they searched his Keith Avenue home.

Jordan has prior federal felony convictions in two other states.

He is charged with multiple drug and weapons charges. MORE

UT cheerleader is dismissed over abuse scandal.

UT is dismissing a cheerleader involved in Premier Athletics, Varsity Spirit abuse scandal.

Attorneys announced a lawsuit in the ongoing national athlete abuse scandal surrounding Memphis-based Varsity Spirit, Premier Athletics, and UT cheerleader Dominick Frizzell.

The suit states Frizzell was allowed to “emotionally, physically, and sexually exploit and abuse” Premier’s young athletes. Frizzell was suspended from the cheer team on Sept. 16 and dismissed from the team today.

Attorneys of the defendants said their clients deserve justice and they are going to make sure they get it.
