4-star on 247 Composite/Rivals/ESPN

Josh Ward’s Analysis: Salter is a very talented dual-threat quarterback who will compete for Tennessee’s starting position in the spring. Will he be ready as a freshman? Time will tell, but there’s no question Salter has a ton of potential for the future.

Eric Cain’s Analysis: Kaidon Salter was the straw that stirred the drink in Tennessee’s 2021 Class. When things were tough on the field for the Vols, Salter never wavered in his commitment and would call and check up on fellow pledges. Salter will most likely be in the middle of a three-man quarterback competition this spring and next fall and displays mobility and the ability to stretch plays when the pocket collapses. Slater is Jim Chaney’s guy – the first quarterback the soon-to-be third-year UT offensive coordinator has recruited.
