KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) –
A Knoxville man has been indicted on multiple felony charges following an investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Squad.
According to the TBI, a Knox County Grand Jury returned an indictment Wednesday charging Jeremy Todd White, 54, of Knoxville, with 16 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. White was taken into custody Thursday and booked into the Knox County Jail on a $180,000 bond.
The investigation began in July after agents received allegations that White, a convicted sex offender, had sexually exploited two young girls.
During the investigation, TBI agents executed two search warrants and seized multiple electronic devices. Investigators said evidence recovered from those devices revealed White was allegedly in possession of numerous images depicting child sexual abuse material, commonly known as CSAM.
Potential Penalties and Fines
Under Tennessee law, Sexual Exploitation of a Minor is a serious felony offense that can carry significant prison sentences and substantial financial penalties upon conviction. Because White has been charged with 16 separate counts, he could face thousands of dollars in fines, court costs, and lengthy incarceration if convicted. Any sentence or fines would ultimately be determined by the court.
Investigation Remains Active
Investigators believe additional victims may exist.
“Based on digital evidence gathered during the investigation, agents believe White may have sexually abused and exploited additional children,” the TBI said in a statement.
Authorities are asking anyone with information related to the case to contact the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND.
Rising Number of Child Exploitation Cases
The case comes amid a growing caseload for the TBI’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit. State investigators have reported a significant increase in child exploitation and online abuse investigations in recent years, placing additional demands on specialized agents across Tennessee.
Officials continue to encourage parents and guardians to monitor children’s online activity and report suspicious behavior to law enforcement.
Presumption of Innocence
The charges against White are accusations. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
