KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) –
An ongoing Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation has led to the indictment of a Knoxville man on multiple child exploitation charges.
A Knox County Grand Jury returned an indictment Wednesday charging Jeremy Todd White, 54, of Knoxville, with 16 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. White was taken into custody and booked into the Knox County Jail on a $180,000 bond.
According to the TBI, agents began investigating White in July after receiving allegations that the convicted sex offender had sexually exploited two young girls. During the investigation, agents executed two search warrants and seized multiple electronic devices.
Investigators say evidence recovered from those devices revealed White was allegedly in possession of numerous images depicting child sexual abuse material, commonly referred to as CSAM.
Potential Penalties
Under Tennessee law, Sexual Exploitation of a Minor is a felony offense. Convictions can carry significant prison sentences, substantial court costs, and fines that may total thousands of dollars depending on the severity and number of counts involved. Because White faces 16 separate charges, any sentence imposed would ultimately be determined by the court if he is convicted.
Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains active and ongoing.
Investigators Seeking Additional Information
The TBI said digital evidence gathered during the case suggests White may have sexually abused or exploited additional children. Agents are urging anyone with relevant information to contact the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND.
Growing Caseload for TBI ICAC Unit
The case comes as Tennessee investigators report a sharp rise in crimes targeting children online.
The TBI’s Internet Crimes Against Children Squad, composed of four special agents, investigates cases involving child sexual abuse material, online exploitation, and related offenses statewide. According to the agency, ICAC agents were assigned 957 cases in 2024. That number climbed to more than 1,500 cases in 2025, reflecting a significant increase in reported child exploitation investigations.
TBI officials continue to encourage parents and caregivers to educate children about internet safety and monitor online activity.
Presumption of Innocence
The TBI noted that the charges against White are allegations. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
