KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Story courtesy of WVLT) – A “boating incident” on Melton Hill Lake leaves one person dead making it the sixth boating fatality in the state according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s Matthew Cameron.
The water rescue call came in just after 12:00 p.m. at 3230 Williams Bend Road in West Knox County at Melton Hill Park.
One person in the boat was ejected, landing in the water, according to Cameron, when the incident happened Monday. That person was rescued but did not survive injuries sustained in the incident.
On April 11, a 21-year-old’s death marked the fifth boating fatality in the state so far in 2026.
