KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Story courtesy of WVLT) – The City of Knoxville and the Knoxville-Knox County Planning are updating the comprehensive plan which helps make decisions on future land use, transportation, and investment priorities for the next 25 years.
The first two listening sessions, called “What’s Next Knoxville”, kicked off Sunday. Residents, including Tiara-Lady Wilson, wrote down what they love or what they think needs improved on a map or read about some of the city’s planning history.
“I believe in being proactive and not reactive. You know, and this is the perfect time for us to say what we want for our city,” Wilson said.
Wilson grew up as a military brat and has moved around a lot, but chose Knoxville to come back to. She said the meeting gave her the chance to get involved with the future of her chosen home.
The city hired a team to help make these sessions feel connected between the city and its people.
“Everything that makes Knoxville Knoxville is on the table for us to discuss about the ways that those things can be even better,” Scott Page, Principal at Interface Studio said.
