BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. (Story courtesy of WVLT) – A Lenoir City man charged in connection to the death of Blount County Deputy Justin Mowery is set to enter a plea this week.
The Blount County Sheriff’s Office said Dalton Michael Bowman stole a motorcycle out of Loudon County and led deputies on a chase Dec. 28. One of the deputies chasing Bowman was Justin Mowery, who was driving on Miser Station Road and crashed into a utility pole at Vinegar Valley Road. Mowery would die from injuries sustained in the crash.
Following a dayslong investigation, Bowman was arrested and charged with the following:
- Evading arrest that resulted in the death of a law enforcement officer
- Possession of a weapon by a convicted felon
- Driving on a suspended license, subsequent offense
- Driving without a license
- Simple possession of Methamphetamine
According to District Attorney General Ryan Desmond’s Office, Bowman was in court Monday afternoon to bind the case to circuit court, where he will enter a plea on Friday, May 1.
