Knoxville, TN (WOKI) – There was an officer-involved shooting in the area of Clinton Highway and I-275 North early this morning (Tues).
Preliminary information indicates Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputies initiated a traffic stop and the suspect, armed with a knife, fled on foot.
During the encounter shots were fired by law enforcement and the suspect was hit. He was taken to the hospital, his condition has not been released.
No deputies were injured during the incident.
As per policy, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation will conduct the investigation into the shooting and the circumstances that led to it.
