Summit Medical and BlueCross BlueShield Reach Agreement

Knoxville, TN (WVLT) Summit Medial Group and BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BCBST) announced a new long-term agreement on Tuesday.

Those that were insured by BCBST were at risk of losing in-network coverage starting in January before the new agreement was reached.

BCBST and Summit Medial Group said the agreement is for in-network coverage in the Blue Network PSM, Blue Network S SM and Medicare Advantage plans.

Scott Pierce, Executive Vice President for BCBST, said “We know our members value the services they receive from Summit providers, and we’re glad to maintain their access to high-quality, affordable care.”

Ed Curtis, Chief Executive Officer of Summit Medical Group, said “We’re pleased to have reached an agreement that reflects our shared commitment to accessible, high-quality healthcare.”

Summit Medical Group has 90 locations across 23 counties in Tennessee. The vast majority of those locations are in East Tennessee.
