KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee baseball is back in action this Friday evening with a fall exhibition matchup against in-state foe Lipscomb.
The Volunteers and Bisons will square off at 6 p.m. ET at Covenant Health Park in downtown Knoxville, home of the Knoxville Smokies, the Double-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. Gates will open at 5 p.m.
Tickets for Friday’s contest are still available and can be purchased by clicking HERE.
Friday will be UT’s first time playing at Covenant Health Park, which opened in April 2025 as the new home of the Knoxville Smokies.
Friday’s contest is the second of four scheduled exhibition games for the Big Orange this fall after squaring off against Troy last Sunday in Nashville.
The Vols are slated to travel south to Chattanooga on Nov. 1 to take on Kennesaw State and on Nov. 8 to wrap up their fall schedule against Georgia Tech. Both of those games will be played at the new Erlanger Park, home of the Chattanooga Lookouts.
Tennessee is coming off its seventh straight NCAA tournament appearance and enter Year 2 of the Josh Elander era. UT returns 13 players from last season’s regional squad and a group of 24 newcomers, which consists of the nation’s top ranked transfer portal class according to Baseball America and the No. 3 ranked high school signing class by Baseball America and Perfect Game.
Lipscomb also made an NCAA regional last season, its second postseason appearance in four years, after winning the Atlantic Sun Conference regular-season and tournament titles in 2026 under longtime head coach Jeff Forehand.
There will be no radio or television/streaming coverage of Friday’s exhibition game.
