PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WOKI) — Dollywood has earned international recognition after being named one of Frommer’s “Best Places to Go in 2027,” placing the East Tennessee attraction among 15 destinations worldwide recommended for travelers in the coming year.
The annual list is compiled by the editorial team at Frommer’s, one of the world’s best-known travel guide publishers. Editors review recommendations from travel journalists around the globe to identify destinations offering unique experiences, special events and compelling reasons for visitors to plan a trip.
The honor places Dollywood alongside destinations in Europe, the South Pacific, the Middle East and other parts of the United States.
Pauline Frommer, editorial director of Frommer’s and daughter of founder Arthur Frommer, said destinations are selected based on what will make them especially attractive to travelers during the coming year.
Since its founding in 1957, Frommer’s guidebooks and website have helped millions of travelers plan vacations worldwide, making the annual list a significant endorsement for tourism destinations.
Park officials say the recognition highlights Dollywood’s continued growth as one of America’s top family attractions. The park offers roller coasters, live entertainment, seasonal festivals, dining experiences and mountain-themed attractions set against the backdrop of the Great Smoky Mountains.
Eugene Naughton, president of Dollywood Parks & Resorts, called the recognition a tremendous honor.
“Dollywood is a place where families can make lasting memories through incredible entertainment, thrilling attractions and experiences that celebrate the people and traditions of the Smoky Mountains,” Naughton said.
Among the park’s newer attractions is NightFlight Expedition, a ride featuring multiple thrill elements designed to create a unique experience for guests. Visitors can also enjoy seasonal festivals, live music performances and culinary offerings inspired by Appalachian traditions.
The recognition comes as Dollywood begins promoting its 2027 season passes. Several pass options will be available, including Diamond, Gold and Silver levels, along with the park’s popular Pre-K Imagination Pass program for eligible young children.
Park officials note that purchasers of select 2027 season passes will be able to start visiting during this year’s Smoky Mountain Christmas festival, one of Dollywood’s most popular annual events.
Other destinations included on Frommer’s 2027 list include locations in French Polynesia, Italy, Egypt, New Zealand, Utah and Florida.
Tourism leaders say the recognition is expected to further boost interest in the park and the broader Great Smoky Mountains region as travelers begin planning vacations for 2027.
