OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) — An Oak Ridge man will spend decades in federal prison following his conviction in a child exploitation case uncovered during an undercover investigation.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 48-year-old Travis O’Neil Todd was sentenced Tuesday to 27 years behind bars after sending child pornography to an undercover agent.
Federal investigators with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force were conducting an online operation targeting social media groups associated with child exploitation when they were contacted by a user later identified as Todd.
During that interaction, authorities say Todd sent multiple images containing child pornography.
Investigators later executed a search warrant at Todd’s Oak Ridge residence, where they discovered 26 videos and five images containing child pornography, according to the DOJ.
Todd entered a plea agreement, pleading guilty to one count of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession with intent to view child pornography.
In addition to his 27-year prison sentence, Todd will face lifetime supervised release after completing his prison term. Officials say he will also be required to register as a sex offender and comply with strict monitoring conditions.
The case is part of ongoing efforts by federal and local law enforcement agencies to combat online child exploitation.
