CLAIBORNE COUNTY, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) — The Claiborne Animal Shelter is urgently seeking foster homes and adopters after taking in a large number of dogs from a suspected animal hoarding case.
Shelter officials say they are already at capacity with stray animals and currently do not have enough space for the newly rescued dogs.
“We have a hoarding case that has just been brought into the shelter and do not have anywhere for them,” the shelter said in a statement.
While details surrounding the case have not yet been released, the shelter says some community members have already applied to foster. However, staff are asking for patience as they work through the application process.
Fostering provides temporary housing for animals and helps relieve overcrowding while giving dogs a chance to recover and prepare for adoption.

Shelter leaders say community support is critical as they work to manage the sudden influx and ensure the animals receive proper care.
