Knoxville Fire Department Investigators say a Man who Reportedly Started a House Fire is in Custody

On Monday, July 7, 2025, at 5:50 AM, the Knoxville Fire Department responded to a reported house fire in the 2400 block of Larkwood Lane. Investigators from the Knoxville Fire Department determined that the fire had been intentionally set and was related to an ongoing domestic situation. Late yesterday evening, with assistance from the Knoxville Police Department, fire investigators located the suspect, who was taken into custody without incident. 

The suspect, Roderick J. McAlpin, age 42, has been charged with one count of felony arson. He is currently detained at the Knox County Detention Facility.
