Knoxville Police Asking for Help Finding Man Accused of Assaulting Officers

Knoxville, TN (WOKI) Knoxville police are asking for help finding a man wanted for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and evading arrest after fleeing a traffic stop Saturday afternoon.

Knoxville Police Department officials say officers stopped a car on Catalpa Avenue because the driver, 23-year-old Amauri Adams of Knoxville, was not wearing a seat belt.

KPD reports Adams appeared to place something underneath the driver’s seat and that when they approached the car, officers saw a large black duffel bag with what they suspected to be pre-packaged marijuana sticking out.

Officers tried to remove Adams from the car, but he put it in gear and fled, pushing two officers out of the vehicle.

The officers were not injured, and the car was later found.

Anyone with information is asked to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers at (865) 215-7165.
