Police Identify Body Found Near Railroad Tracks in Lenoir City

Lenoir City, TN (WOKI) UPDATE 6/18: The Loudon County Sheriff’s Office has identified a body found near the railroad tracks off Foute Town Road in Lenoir City.

The body of 79-year-old Sue Jean Jones was found June 6 near those tracks.

According to officials, an autopsy by the Knox County Forensic Center showed no signs of trauma to the body, and investigators found nothing suspicious surrounding her death.

Family members told police that Jones had been staying in a nearby homeless camp at the time.

ORIGINAL STORY: An investigation is underway in Loudon County after a body is found Friday near the railroad tracks in Lenoir City.

Officials with the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office say the body was discovered near the tracks off Foute Town Road and that the scene is being actively investigated and processed by deputies and Criminal Investigation Detectives.

LCSO says the body will be taken to the Knox County Regional Forensic Center in Knoxville for examination.

No additional information was released.
