Knoxville, TN (WOKI) A Knox County jury delivers a guilty verdict Thursday afternoon in the Knoxville bus depot murder case.
The jury finding Daniel Arwood guilty of first-degree murder and other charges in the shooting death of his boss, 29-year-old Aaron Russell, at a school bus hub on Middlebrook Pike last year.
The murder occurred in February of 2024. Knoxville police say Arwood, who was an employee of a bus contractor, shot Russell with a 12-gage shotgun. Police say he had been using a room in the lot’s warehouse as a home before he was fired and asked to vacate.
According to an arrest report for Arwood, Russell, who had fired Arwood, and a witness arrived at the bus lot Monday morning around 5:15 a.m. When they got there, Arwood reportedly shot Russell before leaving the area in a blue sedan. It was then that the witness called 911, the report said.
A short chase followed until police took Arwood into custody.
Thursday, Arwood was also found guilty of misdemeanor and felony evading arrest.
