Covenant Health Park Game Days Prompt Traffic Changes in Knoxville’s Old City

Knoxville, TN (WOKI) City of Knoxville officials announce additional traffic changes in the Old City following the opening of Covenant Health Park.

Responding to a recent request from Old City Knoxville merchants, the City has agreed to keep S. Central Street open to motorists on weeknights. Though it had become tradition to close a portion of S. Central Street each evening, creating a space for pedestrians, businesses have felt an adverse impact.

The road is still set to close on Friday and Saturday nights between Jackson and Willow avenues when there are large stadium events.

Additionally, drivers will see new stop signs at the intersection of S. Central and Willow Avenue, near Red Panda Grocery.

City officials say they plan to keep an eye on game days and adjust plans as needed.
