The Knox County Growth Policy Coordinating Committee is Still Getting Public Input on a 20 Year Plan for the County

It’s state law that every 20 years, counties in Tennessee have to have a plan for how their next 20 years will look.

It’s been longer than that in Knox County so the Knox County Growth Policy Coordinating Committee has been meeting and hearing from concerned people in the area about what this proposed plan would do to rural areas like Halls, Karns, and Hardin Valley which are options for expansion which would include road projects and the eventual development of housing.

County leaders project that 70,000 people will move to the county over the next 20 years.

The committee will meet again in December and plans won’t be finalized and put into action until early 2024.
