Tennessee basketball senior forward John Fulkerson has been placed on the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 Watch List, the Los Angeles Athletic Club announced Wednesday.

Chosen by a poll of college basketball experts based on performance thus far in 2020-21, the list features 25 student-athletes who are frontrunners for one of the sport’s most prestigious honors.

Fulkerson is one of eight seniors to make the midseason list and is the lone representative from the SEC.

Through eight games, Fulkerson—also a Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year candidate—is averaging 11.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.3 offensive rebounds.

Fulkerson has scored in double figures in all but one game for the Vols this season and has led Tennessee in scoring twice.

The players on the Midseason Top 25 Watch List are considered strong candidates for the 2021 John R. Wooden Award Men’s Player of the Year award, presented by Wendy’s. Players not chosen to the midseason list are still eligible for the Wooden Award National Ballot. The National Ballot consists of the nations’ top 15 players who have proven to their universities that they meet or exceed the qualifications of the Wooden Award. The Wooden Award All American Team will be announced the week of the “Elite Eight” round of the NCAA Tournament. The winner of the 2021 John R. Wooden Award will be presented by Wendy’s following the NCAA Tournament in April.

VFL Grant Williams was on the national ballot for the 2019 Wooden Award, and Lady Vols great Candace Parker won the women’s Wooden Award in back-to-back years in 2007 and 2008.
