NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) – The company managing the estate of late country music icon Dolly Parton is seeking police body camera footage connected to an alleged incident involving Parton’s nephew, Bryan Seaver, according to documents obtained by TMZ.
The footage request centers on events that reportedly occurred at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Aug. 24 and Aug. 25, the days surrounding Parton’s death.
According to TMZ, the estate-management company, She’s Alive, said police were called to the hospital during that time period. The estate is now seeking access to bodycam recordings from responding officers.
Dispute Follows Parton’s Death
Parton died on Aug. 25 after battling cancer. Before her death, she had selected Seaver, her nephew and longtime head of security, to publicly announce her passing.
Sources close to Seaver told TMZ that he was at the hospital helping coordinate arrangements for transporting Parton’s body to a funeral home. Those sources maintain there was no altercation and claim Seaver believes police were called in an effort to keep him away from Parton.
Ongoing Legal Battle
The request for bodycam footage comes amid a growing legal dispute between Seaver and the company overseeing Parton’s estate.
In September, the estate accused Seaver of making threats and attempting to damage Parton’s business interests and legacy. Seaver has strongly denied those allegations, saying he never threatened Parton, her estate or her business operations.
A Tennessee court granted a temporary restraining order sought by the estate against Seaver and his private security company. Earlier this month, a judge extended that order while legal proceedings continue.
Questions Remain
The requested body camera footage could potentially provide additional details about what occurred at the hospital in the hours surrounding Parton’s death.
Neither the estate nor Seaver has publicly released additional information regarding the alleged incident.
The legal dispute remains ongoing, and no final rulings have been made regarding the allegations.
