KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) — One person was taken to the hospital after a shooting in Knoxville’s Western Heights neighborhood on Sunday afternoon, according to the Knoxville Police Department.
Officers responded to the scene around 2:45 p.m. near the 1600 block of Jourolman Avenue after reports of gunfire in the area.
Police said one person, whose identity has not been released, suffered injuries in the shooting and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities have not yet disclosed the severity of the victim’s injuries.
Investigators remained on scene Sunday as they worked to gather evidence and determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
At this time, police have not announced any arrests or identified any suspects connected to the incident.
The Knoxville Police Department said the investigation remains active, and additional information is expected to be released as detectives learn more.
