MORGAN CO., Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) – Officials in Morgan County responded Wednesday to reports of unusual foamy water along the Emory River near Lancing.
The Morgan County Emergency Management Agency said concerns were raised after the foam was spotted in the water, prompting an investigation into its source and any potential risks.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) conducted testing on the river and nearby areas as a precaution. Early findings suggest the foam could be linked to runoff from recent firefighting efforts in the area.
Officials also conducted air quality monitoring and reported that all levels remain normal, indicating there is no current threat to public safety.
Emergency officials say they will continue to monitor the situation, but emphasized that there are no immediate health concerns tied to the foam at this time.
