Morristown, TN (WOKI) – The Morristown Police Department is expanding its public safety capabilities with the addition of a highly trained new K-9 officer.
K-9 Greg, a German Shorthaired Pointer who turns two years old on July 15, has officially joined the department following certification earlier this month. Greg is trained in multiple disciplines, including bomb detection, tracking, article searches, and both on- and off-leash obedience.
According to MPD, Greg completed certification through the National Narcotic Drug Detection Association (NNDA) on June 10, 2026. Since then, he has been actively working alongside his handler, Lieutenant Brad Rice.
Department leaders say the addition of K-9 Greg strengthens their ability to respond to potential threats and assist in investigations, particularly those requiring specialized detection skills.
The Morristown Police Department officially welcomed Greg to the team and expressed confidence in the partnership between the K-9 and Lieutenant Rice, saying they look forward to a long and successful career serving the community.
