KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) — A 19-year-old man wanted by authorities in Texas is facing multiple charges, including attempted second-degree murder, following a shooting Friday evening in Knoxville.
According to court records, the shooting happened around 6 p.m. near the intersection of Texas Avenue and Sherman Street.
Investigators said Lamajay Donshay Hill became involved in an argument with another person before allegedly shooting the victim twice. Court documents state that a witness attempted to intervene and separate the two individuals during the confrontation before gunfire erupted.
Knoxville Police arrested Hill on Oct. 31. He has been charged with attempted second-degree murder, employing a firearm with intent to go armed, and fugitive from justice.
Authorities said Hill was wanted in Texas and had allegedly fled the state to avoid prosecution on a previous assault charge.
The condition of the person who was shot has not been released.
Hill is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 3, where he is expected to face the charges stemming from the Knoxville shooting and the fugitive allegation.
The investigation remains ongoing.
