KNOXVILLE, TN (WOKI) – A 15-year-old boy has died and another 15-year-old has been charged following a shooting at a Knoxville home on Wednesday.
According to the Knoxville Police Department, officers responded at about noon on October 7, 2026, to a residence in the 2200 block of Juniper Drive after receiving reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found a 15-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. The teenager was transported to UT Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
Police said multiple juveniles were present at the home when the shooting occurred. An investigation conducted by KPD Homicide Unit detectives determined that another 15-year-old male was handling a firearm when it accidentally discharged, striking the victim.
Following interviews and the preliminary investigation, the suspect was taken into custody and charged through a juvenile petition with reckless homicide.
Because both individuals involved are juveniles, authorities are not releasing their identities.
