KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI) — Quick action by firefighters helped prevent a house fire from causing more extensive damage Tuesday morning in West Knox County.
According to Rural Metro Fire, crews responded at approximately 11:30 a.m. to a reported house fire in the 8800 block of Ryegate Drive.
When firefighters arrived, they found an attached garage fully involved in fire. Crews immediately began attacking the flames and were able to quickly bring the fire under control.
Officials said firefighters successfully prevented the blaze from spreading into other parts of the residence, limiting direct fire damage to the garage.
While the flames were contained to the garage area, smoke spread throughout the home, causing smoke damage inside the structure.
Firefighters also rescued two pets from the home during the incident.
No injuries were reported among residents, firefighters or other emergency personnel.
Rural Metro Fire credited the rapid response and efficient firefighting efforts of crews for preventing a more serious outcome.
The cause of the fire was not immediately released.
