KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI) – A quick response by the Knoxville Fire Department prevented serious damage after a late-night house fire in Knox County.
According to officials, the Knox County 911 Center received a call just before 11:45 p.m. reporting smoke and fire in the basement of a home on Pilleaux Drive. When the first fire engine arrived, crews found an active fire in the basement.
Firefighters were able to make entry and extinguish the flames within minutes, limiting the damage to the lower level of the home. Officials say the house sustained moderate damage to the basement but remains livable.
Three people—two adults and one child—were inside at the time. An adult male reported smelling smoke and called 911. No injuries were reported.
Knoxville Fire Department investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the fire.
