Ft. Loudon Lake, TN (WOKI / WVLT) – A boat fire on Fort Loudoun Lake drew a large emergency response Sunday morning, but all occupants made it safely off the vessel before it was destroyed by flames.
Emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 10:46 a.m. to the area of 10931 Concord Park Drive near Concord Marina in West Knox County after reports of a boat on fire.
According to dispatch information, the vessel was located about 100 yards from shore near the train tracks, with heavy smoke and large flames visible from the lake.
Authorities said at least six people were on board when the fire broke out.
Police reported that those aboard had pushed the boat away from the dock area and into the water when the fire occurred. All occupants were able to safely evacuate the vessel without injury.
Knox County Rescue responded with a rescue boat and assisted Rural Metro Fire crews during the operation.
According to Rural Metro Fire, firefighters boarded a Knox County Rescue boat and used a portable pump system to extinguish the fire from the water.
“All family members were able to evacuate the boat at the marina and it burned in the water and drifted to the shoreline as it was being extinguished,” Rural Metro Fire officials said.
The burning vessel eventually drifted toward the shoreline as firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control.
No injuries were reported among those aboard the boat or among emergency responders.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and remains under investigation.
