KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) – Knox County Schools has launched an internal investigation after two students left Farragut Primary School without permission.
In a statement provided to WVLT News, district officials confirmed the students have been found safe and that school administrators have been in contact with their families.
“We can confirm that two students did leave campus without permission. Both students are safe, and school administration has been in contact with their families,” said Knox County Schools spokesperson Carly Harrington.
Officials have not released details about how the students left campus or how long they were away from school property. Because the investigation remains active, the district said additional information cannot be confirmed at this time.
Knox County Schools emphasized that student safety and supervision are top priorities and said the district is taking the incident seriously.
“Knox County Schools takes student supervision seriously and we have already opened an internal investigation and will take any action deemed necessary based on the results of that investigation,” Harrington said.
School officials have not indicated whether policy changes, disciplinary action or additional safety measures could result from the investigation.
No injuries have been reported, and officials say both students are safe.
The internal review remains ongoing.
